Frequently asked questions
What counts as deepwater?
U.S. regulators generally treat water depths beyond about 1,000 feet (305 metres) as deepwater and beyond about 5,000 feet (1,524 metres) as ultra-deepwater. Other regions use different thresholds.
What is a subsea tieback?
A tieback connects a new subsea well or field to an existing platform or floating production unit by flowline, so the new production can use facilities that are already in place.
