Frequently asked questions

What is an FPSO?
A floating production, storage and offloading vessel. It processes oil and gas from subsea wells, stores the crude on board and transfers it to shuttle tankers.
Why are FPSOs used in deepwater fields?
Pipelines to shore are costly in deep water or remote locations, so a moored vessel can process and store production at the field instead.
